performaces

Alexander's performance inspiration came from Japanese calligraphy performances and the Gutai Art. Influenced by these sources, he endeavours to engage in informal art practices.

This fusion of traditional Arabic calligraphy and the avant-garde spirit of Gutai reflects Alexander's exploration of dynamic and spontaneous expressions within the realm of art, emphasising the principles of "embodiment" (物づくり, monozukuri) and "concreteness."

Gutai, encouraged artists to explore innovative and experimental techniques, often involving the direct manipulation of materials and the physical act of creation. The emphasis on "embodiment" signifies a focus on the tangible, material aspects of art-making, while "concreteness" underscores the movement's commitment to concrete, physical manifestations of artistic ideas. This philosophy aligns with Alexander's exploration of informal art, showcasing a connection to the dynamic and tangible aspects of artistic expression.

large format photography

Alexander's extensive research and years of dedication to darkroom techniques: developing, printing and digitalizing. He is deeply immersed in the world of analog photography and darkroom, specifically exploring large format photography with wet and dry plate techniques.

This is a fascinating and specialized field that involves using large film formats, such as 13x18 (5x7) inches, which allows for high-resolution and detailed images. these older techniques require a deep understanding of the chemistry involved, as well as the technical aspects of large-format photography

Bodypainting

In his artistic pursuits, he engages in the unique fusion of body painting and calligraphy, complemented by the photography he captures to encapsulate this ephemeral art form. This integration represents the convergence of two distinct artistic explorations, challenging cultural norms and delving into the realm of desire that resides within the artist's soul.

The resulting artwork becomes a dynamic expression that seeks equilibrium between the notions of beauty and vulgarity. Through this creative synthesis, he aims to provoke contemplation on the fluid boundaries of aesthetic sensibilities, encouraging viewers to reassess preconceived notions and confront the intricate interplay between cultural ideals and personal desires within the realm of art.
